The YES Men are provocateurs and tricksters who have mastered the art of corporate drag so it's only fitting John Cameron Mitchell and Justin Bond -
responsible for creating two of the most memorable drag characters of
the past decade (Hedwig and Kiki Durane) - will join in this 3-story celebation of "The YES Men Fix The World." Legendary performance artist Penny Arcade (who describes herself as having been raised by drag queens) joins Bond as co-host for an evening of performances, live art and interventions by The Gay Agenda, Billy Eichner, Jeff Hnilicka, Erin Markey, Greg Walloch, Ultimate Party 4 (aka Richard & Mikki), Zhennesse and the NYC debut of Yvonne Gougelet's World Famous Poop Opera.
Join us for a non-stop celebration of muck-rakers, pranksters, culture
jammers, activists, independent media makers and "The YES Men Fix the
World!"
A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit Not An Alternative,
a non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, whose mission aims to
integrate art, activism and theory in order to affect popular
understandings of events, symbols and history. The organization
operates a multi-purpose venue named The Change You Want to See Gallery
and Convergence Stage, where free and low-cost lectures, screenings,
panel discussions, workshops and artist presentations occur.
For their most recent trick The YES Men stunned nearly a million New Yorkers with the appearance of a "special edition" New York Post blaring headlines that their city could face deadly heat waves, extreme flooding, and other lethal effects of global warming within the next few decades. The most alarming thing about it: the news came from an official City report. You can view the online edition of the faux Post here.
